D. Ross Campbell, M.D., was born and raised in New Mexico. He directed a mission hospital in Bolivia, then returned to the U.S. and received a B.S. degree from the United States Naval Academy, and went on to receive a medical degree from the University of Florida. He interned at Charlotte Memorial Hospital in North Carolina, where he received a fellowship in child psychiatry. He then returned to the University of Florida Shands Medical Center in Gainesville for his residency. He founded the Southeastern Counseling Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and served as its
director until retiring in 1996. His first book, How to Really Love Your Child, was published in 1977, and is in its 35th printing. He also lectures on parenting throughout the United States and in Europe. He is currently a seminar leader and board member of Ministering to Ministers Foundation, an organization dedicated to the support of ministers, their families and church organizations. In 1997, the governor of Tennessee appointed Dr. Campbell to the Board of Trustees of Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute.
Also a licensed pilot, his numerous interests include flying, hiking, traveling and reading. He has four adult children and five grandchildren. He resides on Signal Mountain, Tennessee.
