Educated at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School, commissioned in the Corps of Royal Engineers, and living in Canada since 1957, Art Cockerill has worked in the power engineering and nuclear engineering consulting fields. He has combined a parallel career in writing and engineering. His journalism has appeared in The Guardian Weekly, the Middle East Economic Digest (MEED), The Economist, Canadian Manager and numerous international publications. He has worked in the Middle East, Africa, Central America and the Caribbean. He lives in Ontario, Canada. In addition to technical books, his published works for the general reader include Sir Percy Sillitoe, former head of MI5 (1974), Sons of the Brave, the story of boys soldiers (1984), Winning the Radar War (with Jack Nissen) (1987), Emma on Albert Street (1997), The Charity of Mars (2002)m a history of the Royal Military Asylum (1801-1892).
