Cathal Ó Sándair

Údar Gaeilge ba ea Cathal Sándair (15 lúil 1922 - 18 Feabhra 1996). Airítear gur scríobh sé timpeall 160 leabhar, eachtraí gearra don óige a bhformhór. Ba é an chéad duine é ar bronnadh Gradam Bhord na Gaeilge air. [Vicipéid - https://ga.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathal_%C3%93_S%C3%A1ndair ]

Cathal Ó Sándair (1922 - 1996) had an English father and an Irish mother, grew up in Dublin and entered the Civil Service. In his spare time, he devoted himself to writing and was just 22 when he published the first Réics Carló novel. Specifically created by Cathal as an 'Irish Sexton Blake', the resourceful private investigator made his debut in 1942 in a thriller called NaMarbh a d'Fhill (Return of the Dead). He went on to write more than 160 books, of which about 50 featured his detective hero. At the height of Carló's fame in the 1950s, the books were selling more than 100,000 copies per title - an enormous sale for a book in Irish.
