Amid Amidi is a founder of Cartoon Brew, as well as an author, historian, and consultant, with numerous books to his credit. He was the youngest recipient of the Theatre Library Association Award which he received for his book Cartoon Modern: Style and Design in Fifties Animation (2006). Currently, he is the official biographer of Oscar-winning animation director and jazz bandleader Ward Kimball.
