Gregorio Sancianco y Goson was one of the first writers of the Propaganda Movement. He was a Chinese mestizo who went to Madrid for his undergraduate studies. He wrote one of the first books (El Progreso de Filipinas, Madrid, 1881) advocating economic reform in the Philippines.
