Yolanda Corona Caraveo es Psicóloga de formación, con estudios de maestría en Filosofía y doctorado en Etnohistoria. Su campo de trabajo ha sido la infancia principalmente en dos temas: la participación infantil y la manera en que niños y jóvenes de comunidades de tradición indígena participan en sus comunidades.
Es profesora investigadora de la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Xochimilco en donde coordina el Programa de Formación en Derechos y posibilidades de la infancia a través del cual se profesionaliza a las personas que están trabajando directamente en proyectos de intervención con la niñez.
La investigación que actualmente está realizando se refiere a la participación de niñas y niños en comunidades de tradición mesoamericana. Ha escrito diversos artículos sobre el tema de infancia así como los libros “Participación infantil y juvenil en América Latina” “Diálogo de saberes sobre participación infantil” “Tradición y modernidad en Tepoztlan” y otros más sobre el tema de infancia y de la identidad de pueblos indígenas.
Yolanda Corona holds degrees in educational psychology and anthropology. She is a professor and researcher at the Autonomous Metropolitan University in Mexico where she directs a national education project on children rights and opportunities. She is also a founding member of the Programa Infancia. This program integrates research, teaching and social service, and supports the enrichment of academic knowledge by information generated by people in NGOs working directly with children in vulnerable situations. Professor Corona's current research focuses on rural children, the young people's participation in resistance movements, and the ways in which indigenous children participate in their own communities. She has edited several books and journals issues on children in vulnerable situations, participation, and politics.
