Harry Bemmister "The FOO" Barrett was a Canadian historian, naturalist, philanthropist, and World War II Navy veteran. Born in 1922, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1939 and was discharged in 1945 as a lieutenant. Afterwards, he got his BSA in Animal Husbandry and assisted his father in the management of his family farms, and later on in his life, he authored eight books about his life's experiences.
In 1962 he was the first seated president of Norfolk Field Naturalists, as well as an Honorary Director later on in the club's life. He was a provincial appointee on the Long Point Region Conservation Authority, as well as a standing member of the Lynn Valley Trail Association. He was also instrumental in the promotion of the idea of Bruce Trail while seated as Chairman of the Niagara Escarpment Committee.
