Dare Wright was a Canadian–American children's author, model, and photographer best known for her children's book, The Lonely Doll. Using photographs of her own childhood doll Edith, Wright created ten volumes of Edith's adventures with the Bears between 1957 and 1981. Her Look At A... series turns her camera toward the life cycles of various animals from birth to adulthood. Her other books, Make Me Real, Take Me Home, The Little One, and Lona also feature the wistful adventures of childhood toys rendered in evocative black-and-white photography.
