Robert George Reisner was a writer, humorist, and jazz fan. He wrote the biography of the jazz musician Charlie Parker, “Bird: The Legend of Charlie Parker," taught jazz history at Brooklyn College, created the Institute for Jazz Studies, and taught a course in graffiti at the New School. He was a jazz critic for The Village Voice.
