Margaret Musgrove

Dr. Margaret Musgrove was born November 19, 1943, in New Britain, CT. She has taught at taught Loyola Universty since 1991 in their writing and media department. Before Loyola, she taught at community colleges in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maryland. Writing children’s literature was her favorite course. She was tenured in 1996 and had a Fulbright Research Grant to study in Ghana, West Africa in 1997-98.

Her children’s book, The Spider Weaver: A Legend of Kente Cloth, was published in 2001 by Scholastic. Her picture book, Ashanti to Zulu: African Traditions, was the 1977 Caldecott Award Winner. Photo Credit: CityLit Project
