Hermann Michaëlis

German author and queer activist.

Hermann Michaëlis wurde als Sohn des Buchhalters Eugen Michaëlis und dessen Frau Agnes geb. Schäfer in Braunschweig geboren. Er war Altphilologe, übersetzte unter anderem die Magdeburger Bischofschronik aus dem Lateinischen und publizierte 1907 das Buch Die Homosexualität in Sitte und Recht. Er war zunächst in der Nachfolge Richard Grunowskis Sekretär des Wissenschaftlich-humanitären Komitees (WhK) und wurde 1911 in das Obmännerkollegium des wissenschaftlich-humanitären Komitees gewählt. —Magnus-Hirschfeld-Gesellschaft
