Carole E. Greenes

Dr. Carole E. Greenes is professor emeritus in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Formerly, she directed the Practice Research and Innovation in Mathematics Education (PRIME) Center, and professor of mathematics education in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University. She came to ASU in 2007 from Boston University, where she earned an Ed.M. and an Ed.D. in Mathematics Education and was a Professor at their School of Education.

Professor Greenes has authored more than 350 books and programs for students and teachers, Pre-K through college, 75 articles, six mathematical musicals, and two histories of mathematics in story and song. Among those is the 10 volumes of "MATHadazzle Puzzle Books" with problems contributed by teachers in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Professor Greenes is editor of the Arizona Association of Teachers of Mathematics semi-annual journal, OnCore, and author of the on-line monthly MATHgazine Senior (grades 8-12) and MATHgazine Junior (grades 4-8).

Professor Greenes is a member of the Arizona Association of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (and former president), the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the International Society for Technology in Education, and the American Educational Research Association. She is a member on the boards of the Advisory Council STEM AZ, the Museum of Mathematics in New York City, and Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle School headquartered in New York. In 2016, she received the Copper Apple Award for Leadership in Mathematics in Arizona. In 2018, she received the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Lifetime Achievement Award.
