John Pimlott (born on 1948, Brigg — 24 October 1997, Surrey) was the Head of the War Studies Department at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and a writer of books on military history. He was tragically killed on 24 October 1997 when two hand grenades picked up on a battlefield visit exploded in his study.
He published both papers and popular books on twentieth-century military history and especially guerrilla warfare. In particular, he edited illustrated partworks such as War in Peace (London: Marshall Cavendish, 1987) and Nam: The Vietnam Experience 1965-75 (London: Hamlyn Publishing, 1988), as well as editing popular volumes such as Vietnam: The History and Tactics (New York: Crescent Books, 1982) and Guerrilla Warfare (New York: Military Press, 1985).
