Henry Grattan Guinness, D.D., F.R.A.S. (born in Kingstown In Taney, Dublin, Ireland) was an Irish Protestant Christian preacher, evangelist and author.
In 1860 to 1898, he was married to Fanny Emma Fitzgerald (1831-1898). They had seven or eight children, of which only four reached adult age, among them the author Mary Geraldine Guinness Taylor (1865-1949). Several years after Fannys death Henry married to Grace Hurditch, having two sons from her.
Mr. Guinness devoted his life to the training of missionaries, especially for work in regions unvisited at that time. He established the Missionary Training Institutes Harley College, Bromley-by-Bow, for men, later known as Hulme Cliff College, and Doric Lodge, for women, later the Livingstone Inland Mission, the Congo-Balolo Mission, and the Regions Beyond Missionary Union.
He also took a deep interest in science, especially in Astronomy and the subject of ancient Chronology.
