Alma Beneke Sasse was born in Brunswick, Missouri, to Dora and Frederick Sasse. She attended Vassar from 1911-12, and then the University of Missouri until her graduation in 1915. Sasse was active in the suffragist movement and published A Hand Book for Republican Women (1920). Alma went on to publish The Mystery of the Chinese Box (1939) and Terry Carvel’s Theater Caravan (1943), both of which are set in the Pacific Northwest. Alma was also a Carolyn Keene ghostwriter and wrote the Nancy Drew book The Mystery at the Ski Jump (1952). She lived in Seattle, Washington.
