Albert Ludwig Grimm (born 1786 in Schluchtern near Heilbronn, died 1872 in Baden-Baden) was a teacher, reformer educationist, politician, poet, was concerned with local history and geology and collected and published folk tales and legend.
He studied theology and philology in Tuebingen and Heidelberg and worked as a teacher, later as the head of the „Paedagogium“ in Weilheim (on Bergstraße). There he was elected mayor and deputy („M. P.“) of the Badischer Landtag. After the decease of his second wife and his own retiring he moved to Baden-Baden. There he was, among others, member of the governing board of an orphanage.
His first book of folk tales for children influenced the Brothers Grimm, despite mutual harsh criticism.
