Clyde Thogmartin is an emeritus faculty member at Iowa State University, where he taught French and linguistics. He received a B. A. and an M. A. from the University of Kansas, a Ph. D. from the University of Michigan. He was a journalist intern (journaliste stagiaire) at "Le Monde" (1986), and served as Managing Editor of "The French Review" (2001-04). He holds the French decoration for educators "Chevalier dans les Palmes Académiques."
