Ioan P. Couliano

Ioan Petru Couliano was a Romanian scholar who primarily dealt with the subjects of the history and philosophy of religion. His work focused on the relationship between beliefs in magics, religion and physics. He spent the majority of his career at the University of Chicago, where he became friends with the famed historian and philosopher of religions, Mircea Eliade. Couliano was found murdered in the bathroom of the University of Chicago Divinity School. The cause was a single gunshot to the back of the head.
