Frank Hampson was a comic strip artist born near Manchester, UK. In 1949, he co-founded the children's magazine The Eagle, which was published by Hulton Press. Its most popular comic strip was Hampson's Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future series. In 1978, he graduated from the Open University. He died in July 1985, in Surrey, England.
