G. H. C. Macgregor, M.A.

The Rev. G. H. C. Macgregor, M.A. was minister of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Notting Hill. Born on the 14th of June, 1864, the sixth child and fourth son of the Rev. Malcolm Macgregor. The tall, wiry figure, so instinct in every nerve with life, the earnest, appealing voice, the frank, cordial smile, all live in the memory of thousands; and there are very many who owe to him the greatest of all debts, because his words were the means of turning them to God, or of summoning them to a higher life.
During the last few years of his brief ministry there were perhaps not many religious teachers in England who in certain circles exerted a greater influence. At Keswick especially, and in the many conventions all over the country organized after the Keswick Model, he was one of those who not only are listened to with pleasure, but whose words invariably guide and help. In addition to his ministry at Keswick and many other conferences, Mr. Macgregor was a welcome teacher at Mr. Moody’s meetings in America.
On April 20th, 1900 he was suffering from a severe illness which proved to be meningitis. The illness was but brief, for on May 3rd the home-call was heard, and he whom so many loved, passed in to see the King in His beauty, thus closing a brief, but a bright and very intense life. Only 35 years of age when he passed away, but into a ministry of 12 years, six in Aberdeen and six in London, Mr. Macgregor pressed an amount of work for the conversion of sinners, and the uplifting of believers, such as few have been privileged to compass in a lengthened career.
