Alba Gonzalez Thompson

Dr. Alba Gonzalez Thompson, born in Cuba, was a mathematician who conducted research while affiliated with San Diego State University, California. Thompson's research with Patrick W. Thompson (Arizona State University) found, among other things, that the ways teachers construct their knowledge of student thinking are both constrained by and are generative to teachers' mathematical knowledge, and that classroom discourse and communication are issues central to current reform in mathematics education.
