Chester Brigham was born in Boston, grew up in Melrose and Gloucester, and graduated from Colby College (Phi Beta Kappa). The family home on Goose Cove in Gloucester has been his home base while in the service, during years of study in Mexico and Spain, and vicariously while he and wife Anthea lived in Connecticut and he was a freelance writer in the business world. For the past 14 years he has been back full-time on Goose Cove, researching and writing about the remarkably rich history of the Gloucester area. On May 20 he received a Gloucester Historical Commission 2012 award "with special recognition" for his most recent book, "On Opposite Tacks."
