Othman Wok was born in 1924. He worked as a journalist before becoming a politician. He was the Minister of Social Affairs in Singapore from 1963-1977. After retiring from active politics, he was appointed as Singapore's ambassador to Indonesia. He has also served on the Singapore Tourism Board.
