The story of Sebie's flight is written, and the photos. . . fantastic. However, the book is not yet published due to complications. This photo was taken of Sebie and his granddaughter long after he was one of the first men to volunteer and form the "American Volunteer Group in combat" during WWII. However, after five kids and a story like this, it is only natural he would settle on the quiet coastlines of a pre-developed Destin, FL. It was here that this photo was taken in 1988. This young lady was one of many grandchildren who grew to learn the values of this Mississippi farmer turned hero, until his peaceful death day in 2002. The sky was fittingly beautiful that day. One day, "My Quest to Fly: Memories and Photos of China, with the American and Chinese Air Forces, 1936 1940," by Sebie Biggs Smith, will fill the shelves and serve as a stimulating guide about the journeys that created one of the last real Southern Gentlemen.
