John Lynch (1927-2018) was director of the Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of London, where he has been teaching since 1961. He is the author of several works, including Spanish Colonial Administration 1782-1810 and Spain under the Hapsburgs. This volume is part of the Revolutions in the Modern World series.
