Dr. Mark A. Goldstein was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Bethesda, Maryland. During college and medical school he was involved in medical research at the National Institutes of Health. After completing his residency and fellowship training in Boston, Massachusetts, his first appointment was at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Subsequently, he was asked to form the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has written many articles and books around health-related topics for the professional and lay audience, often working with his spouse Myrna, an independent scholar and journalist. Dr. Goldstein is on the faculty of Harvard Medical School where he is an active teacher and continues the practice of adolescent and young adult medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.
