Geminus of Rhodes

[Deutsch] Geminos von Rhodos (griechisch: Γεμῖνος ὁ Ῥόδιος, latinisiert: Geminus) (geb. um 110 v. Chr.; gest. um 40 v. Chr in Rhodos), war ein griechischer Stoiker, Astronom und Mathematiker.
Der Schüler des Poseidonios lebte um 70 v. Chr. in Rom und schrieb dort die „Eisagoge eis ta phainomena“ („Einführung in die Phänomene“), ein bedeutendes Werk über die Astronomie. Er schrieb auch ein Werk über die Mathematik, von dem jedoch nur Fragmente in Werken anderer Autoren erhalten blieben.

[English] Geminos of Rhodes (Greek: Γεμῖνος ὁ Ῥόδιος, Latinized: Geminus) (b. around 110 B.C., d. around 40 B.C. in Rhodes), was a Greek Stoic, astronomer and mathematician.
The pupil of Posidonius lived around 70 B.C. in Rome and wrote the “Eisagoge eis ta phainomena” (“Introduction to the Phenomena”), an important work on astronomy. He also wrote a book on the mathematics, of which only fragments survived in works obtained by other authors.

[Français] Geminos de Rhodes (en grec: Γεμῖνος ὁ Ῥόδιος, latinisée: Geminus) (né vers 110 av. J.C., mort vers 40 av. J.C. à Rhodes), était un stoïcien, astronome et mathématicien grec.
L'élève de Posidonius vivaient vers de 70 J.C. à Rome et a écrit la « Eisagoge eis ta phainomena » (« Introduction aux phénomènes »), un important travail sur l'astronomie. Il a aussi écrit un livre sur les mathématiques, dont seulement des fragments sont restés dans les œuvres obtenues par d'autres auteurs.
