Jutka T. Emöke Barabás

Author, artist and entrepreneur Jutka T. Emoke Barabas was born in Hungary in the end of the Stalin era. Since her earliest childhood, when she wrote poems on dirty walls with a piece of charcoal, her "theme" was remained a constant - support for human rights and freedom. Because of her writing, she was persecuted politically. She was able to escape from Hungary to Switzerland in the fall of 1972, hidden in a wooden crate and shipped out of the country as "air cargo".

As a refugee in Switzerland Jutka T. Emoke Barabas worked as a dishwasher, an office clerk, and a phone repair specialist. In 1978, she started her studies of Classical Archeology and History at the University of Zurich. Later, she would study English, American History and Theater Science at University of Hawaii at Manoa and Hawaii Pacific University.

Her message is to fight against hatred and terror worldwide and promote tolerance in -between Nations. Her Peace poems: “Give Peace a Chance”, “What Does Peace Mean To You?”, “Madness of War”, “Peace is Life” protest against the horrors of all wars. In 1987 she became a member of the Swiss Authors association and of the German Swiss PEN Center. Since 1994, she is member of the PEN Center USA West and of the Writers in Exile American Branch. She wrote numerous novels and theatre plays before her escape from Hungary, Her first novel, written in German was the "Apprenticeship of a Refugee" Johannes Krause Edition, Germany 1987. It brought her a literature award from the State of Zurich in 1987. Her theater play "The Monologue of the Old Lady" was performed with great success at the Diamond Head Theater in Honolulu in 1994.

Jutka T. Her most recent novel is the "Woman of Light": a story about a bizarre trial of a woman in middle of the bloody Bosnian war. Snayder Edition, Germany 1999. Currently she is writing a new novel “My Name is Peace”: a diary of a young boy in the turmoil’s of the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. She is planning also a new political novel with the title "The day we learned to cry again". She wishes to honor the victims of the terrible September 11th terrorist attacks with this book.

Jutka T. Emoke Barabas is a Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hawaii based company 9Isles International, Inc, which produce violence free educational games. Currently she is also the Executive Producer of the new successful educational and violence free game program "Aerobeak’s Educational Edition" and the “Peace Games”.
