Richard Gough

Richard Gough was a yeoman in the British town of Myddle who served as a church warden in his twenties. He had married Joan Wood of Peplow and had eight children, of whom four survived into adulthood. While his reasoning for it is unknown, Gough authored two books around 1700 when he was around 65 years of age. The writings are unique in nature, as they document the lives of the middle class rather than the societal elite of the time.
