Doctor cum laude in History. His Ph. D. first cycle research was about the Spanish War of Succession in Asturias, obtainig the prestigious research award “Padre Patac” in 2007.
Specialist in Modern Age, including the Spanish War of Independence, currently lecturer-tutor at the National Distance Learning University (UNED) in Asturias, where he teaches History and Art, and part of the investigation team led by Francisco Erice Sebares to develop the Diccionario Biográfico de Parlamentarios Españoles, supported by the Spanish Government
He organized and lead several activities in the Academic Area, like the Journeys Society and Army. Military Tradition in Asturias (2007), financed by the Spanish Ministry of Defense, or the course at the University of Oviedo Nobility and Army in the Spain of the Modern Age (2005).
He had some scholarships to research and teaching in the University of Oviedo, like the one from the Foundation to Fomentation in Asturias of Scientific Application Research and Technology (FICYT), collaborating with the Principality of Asturias and the University of Oviedo, to research and teach in the History Faculty. He lectures on the subjects of Modern History of Asturias, Modern History of Spain and Universal Modern History beetwen the years 2004 and 2008.
He has given several conferences and has several national and international publications dealing with social military history, like Asturias and the Spanish War of Succession (Oviedo, 2009); Asturian alignly with Philip the V during Spanish War of Succession. Relative loyalty (Madrid, 2005); Nobility and Army in the Modern Age in Asturias (coord., Oviedo, 2008); The asturian Alarma in 1810 (Madrid, 2009); “Spanish Zouaves for the Pope in 1867: the hidden problems” (Sevilla, 2009), “Der Spanische Unabhängigkeitskrieg in Asturien. Neue Perspektiven” (Potsdam, 2007); or “Le protagonisme du peuble dans la Guerre de l’Indépendance Espagnole: le cas de l’“Alarma Asturiana” (Porto, 2010); for instance.
He has attended and participated in several specific seminars, congresses and courses and had several grants and special invitations to congresses and seminars dealing with History. Among them, he has been a member of the Spanish Delegation in the XXXIIth and XXXVth international congresses of Military History, held in Potsdam (Germany) in 2006 and Porto (Portugal) in 2009 respectively.
He obtained the grant for collaboration and research in Modern History Department of the University of Oviedo working on the defence of the Principality of Asturias and the military institution between the 16th and 18th centuries (2001/2002); the scholarship awarded by the local goverment, Junta General del Principado de Asturias, working on the transcription and edition of its Historical records (2002 July- 2004 June); Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Spanish International Cooperation Agency grant to carry out studies in latin american countries, posted in Puerto Rico to research its defensive structure in the 18th Century, included in Mutis Program, III-C (awarded published in Spanish State Official Bulletin –BOE- 2004, June 18th)
