Nigel J. Dennis was born and raised in the UK. He was interested in art, and began to learn photography in order to create studies for paintings. He soon left painting to pursue photography full-time. He began photographing wildlife in the UK, then became a freelance wildlife photographer, largely working in southern Africa.
