Global Voices is a community of more than 700 authors and 600 translators around the world who work together to aggregate, curate, and amplify the global conversation online –- shining light on places and people often ignored by international mainstream media.
Our community work to develop tools and relationships that will help all voices to be heard, producing long reports and news items each day from blogs, social and citizen media everywhere.
Founded in 2005 by Rebecca MacKinnon and Ethan Zuckerman at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University, Global Voices has more than 30 localized versions managed by volunteer translators (Lingua) along with an Advocacy website to protect free speech and an outreach project (Rising Voices) to help marginalized communities.
