Karen Smith is a Beijing-based British curator who specialises in contemporary Chinese art. She has written on the subject in numerous journals and produced exhibition catalogues. She also writes books on China's contemporary art scene.
She graduated from Wimbledon Art School in 1987. She settled in China in 1992 and is an internationally recognised authority on Chinese contemporary art. In August 2012, she was appointed Executive Director of OCAT Xi'an.
