Dorset (Photographer's Britain) was the pilot book for a series published by Sutton Pub Ltd. It is Dorset, the county, as seen through the eyes of a photographer. It contains over 70 black and white photographs of the landscape from across the county, from famous iconic landmarks to lesser known or hidden places. Tim Hawkins reveals Dorset to be an area of great contrasts with its fascinating variety of landforms from its World Heritage coastline to the vales and scarps inland. Accompanying the images, the text explains why a particular frame was chosen from an Iron Age fort to a dash across the county chasing the light.

Edition Notes

Tim Hawkins is a professional photographer who was convinced by Lee Miller persue photography seriously. He subsequently worked on her archive in the early 1980's which he describes as "one of the most valuable and revealing tasks I have ever undertaken". Now living in Rutland, Tim Hawkins is fully digital but regrets the careful deliberation needed for large format black and white landscape photography.
