Professedly based on the memoranda of J.S. (J. Sanders) "methodized" by another. The original publisher, John Dunton, considered the narrative fictitious and ascribed it to the "methodizer," Richard Sault. Cf. John Dunton's life and errors, 1818, v. 1, p. 154.

Advertised as "just published" in the Connecticut courant, Sept. 21, 1777. Evans erroneously gives 1775 as the date of publication.
