"Collective Memory originated in the context of the installation work by that name, created by Norma Cole, in collaboration with the Poetry Center ... The book is designed by Emily McVarish and bound by Coriander Reisbord. The letterpress portion is set in Bulmer and printed on Somerset Book by Philip Gallo at the Hermetic Press ... The edition comprises 48 copies of which 12 are hors commerce and 36 are for sale"--Colophon.

An additional text, "House of hope," is a compilation of quotations from various poets, artists, and others. It is bound in separately at the base of the covers, running parallel to the main text.

LC has copy no. 38, signed by the author.
