'The Town Planning Committee of the County Borough Council on 12 October 1972 formally designated the Lichfield Street & King Street Conservation Area under the provisions of Part I of the 'Civic Amenities Act 1967', and Part XV of the 'Townand Country Planning Act 1971', as one of several Conservation Areas in the Borough. An additional area was designated on 25 July 1974.'.
