Later editions are entitled 'Lives of the English poets'.
Vols. 1-4 are dated 1779, vols. 5-10: 1781; vols. 5-10 list 33 additional booksellers in the imprint.
One British Library copy contains 'Directions to the binder'(vol. 1, pp. ix-x) for the first four volumes, showing that the lives were originally issued in parts.
Each life has a separate pagination and register.
