This book is fantastic, I remember reading it in the 80s when I was at school and loved it I'm trying to get it os an iBook so I can have it on my iPhone, but if I can't, I will get it as a hard copy and anyone thinking about getting it I would recommend it. Basically, it's about a black Jamaican boy who as to go and live with foster parents, as his mum as gone back to jamaica to look after a dying revertive and his dad cannot cope with looking after him and work. The foster family that he goges to are a White family called the Chapmans and they have a son called Keith and because poor Donovan is so upset, he is an elected mute and will not speak to anyone and as this. Book was written in the 70s, life and peoples views were different then, as there was a lot of Racialism and racist views around and it is soon made clear by keith friends, a racist teacher and the everyone else, that Donovan was not welcomed, which made life even harder for poor Donovan, but thing change and I won't spoil it for anyone that is thinking about getting the book, but Donovan ends up saving Keith's life and a very strong bond forms between the boys and I think I've told you enough, if you you wanna find out what happens, then you will have to get the book for yourself? but trust me its a good read and very thought provoking and will make you think if anything as really changed in the last 30/40 years....
