MASS copy 1: Bound in red sand-grain cloth blocked in gold and blind in the same design as McLean O 677 and McLean O 678, but with the design blocked in blind on the lower cover. Spine and covers with signature: "AW" [i.e. Albert Henry Warren]. Spine with imprint: "Routledge & Co.". Boards with bevelled edges; a.e.g. With ownership inscription: "M. G. Leach.". The spine design on this binding, except for lettering, is identical to that blocked in gold on the spine of "Poems by Alfred Tennyson" published in 1859 by Edward Moxon and Co. See McLean O 603. Spine design was also used with different lettering on McLean O 677 and with the same lettering on McLean O 678.
MASS copy 2: Bound in blue sand-grain cloth blocked in gold and blind in the same design, with the same signatures and spine imprint as copy 1. Boards with bevelled edges; a.e.g. With binder's ticket: "Bound by Leighton Son and Hodge". With prize inscription from "College House Upper Clapton" dated 1875: "1st Good Conduct Prize Presented to Annie Leadbeater by Miss Bush.". Lacking an exclamation mark at the end of the last line of text on p. [28].
