Wood-engraved illustrations within the text are unsigned.
Plates and illustrations are the same as those used in an 1839 edition of this title published by John Murray. See McLean D 0603.
Publisher's advertisement on p. [1] at end includes advertisement for the publisher "John Van Voorst, 1, Paternoster Row.".
MASS copy: Bound in green vertical rib-grain cloth blocked in gold and blind in the same design as McLean D 0603.. Upper cover blocked in gold with illustration similar to those within the text. Illustration incorporates publisher's name: "John Murray London.". With pale pastel yellow endpapers. With bookseller's label: "Punton, Bookseller 13, Piccadilly near Regent St.".
