Date assumed from English Catalogue of Books and existence of an edition of the same title dated 1871. Cf. British Library Public Catalogue.

All wood-engraved plates and illustrations within the text are unsigned.

Plates are printed in brown with one or two colours and include hand-colouring.

Most wood-engraved illustrations, and all of the plates, with some differences in colouring, are the same as those used in an 1855 edition of this title published by Groombridge and Sons. See McLean D 0010.
