Wood-engraved illustrations were also used in an 1862 and an 1863 edition of this title, both published by Sampson Low, Son and Co. and also reproduced by lithography in an [1888] edition published by Sampson Low, Marston, Searle, & Rivington Ltd. See McLean F 0103, McLean O 0566 and McLean O 0567.
MASS copy 1: Bound in light purple fine diagonal rib-grain cloth blocked in gold, black and blind. Upper cover blocked in gold with series title: "The Choice Series". Lower cover blocked in blind with publisher's monogram. Boards with bevelled edges; a.e.g. With pale pastel orange glazed endpapers. With presentation inscription dated 1887. With later ownership inscription: "Fianach Jardine".
MASS copy 2: Bound in red-brown fine diagonal rib-grain cloth blocked in gold, black and blind in the same design as copy 1. Upper cover blocked in gold with series title: "The Choice Series".
