Comprehensive work of human anatomy (in French) running to about 2000 pp in two volumes. A bit dated, as it's over a century old, but excellent for its time, rivaling or surpassing Gray's Anatomy. Text with good pen and ink illustrations. If you read French and are interested in odd bits of anatomical knowledge which more modern authors may have tended to overlook, look it over.
(Added a few days later:) OK, here's the deal. You will probably not want to read this on your iPad. Why? Because as far as I can see, the epub version doesn't have pictures, which are a key part of its usefulness. Equally bothersome, the text was scanned but not checked, and there are many, many typos.
The pdf shows the book as it looked to the scanner. So far, so good. Text is legible, pictures are clear. But the pages turn fairly slowly when seen on a regular computer; on an iPad, you'll want to work on your knitting, or whatever, while the new page resolves itself. It's S_L_O_W.
