Preliminary wood-engraved plate included in pagination. Plate with signatures: "Absolon. Del." and "Green". Plate is with title caption.

Includes wood-engraved decorative head-piece and tail-pieces.

MASS copy 1: Bound in dark blue-green diagonal rib-grain cloth embossed with an all-over coarse wavy pattern. Spine tooled in gold with title. With ownership inscription: "J. C. Osler's children".

MASS copy 2: Bound in yellow glazed paper-covered boards printed in black, red and green. Upper cover printed with title and wide wood-engraved floriated border design. Lower cover printed with series title within the same border design: "The Favourite Library". With pale pastel yellow glazed endpapers. With binder's ticket: "Bound by Bone & Son, 76, Fleet Street, London.". With bookseller's label: "Sandford & Howell Booksellers (Shrewsbury)".
