Edition Notes
Author supplied by ESTC, under 'John Wyatt'; H&L gives 'T. Wyat, of Gray's-Inn', with note: 'ascribed also to Matthew Wyat'; the DNB, under Boaden, identifies the 'Friend to Consistency' as James Wyatt!. DNB states that James Boaden, 1879, was appointed editor of the 'Oracle ' newspaper, which had been started in that year as a rival to the 'World'. 'A Comparative Review ... appeared as an anonymous pamphlet in answer to Boaden's Letter addressed to George Steevens,(the Shakespearean commentator), in 1796, concerning the 'Papers of Shakespeare' published by Mr. Samuel Ireland, which Boaden by that time believed to be spurious.
ESTC3445W1 [under John Wyatt]; 3048B10 [under Boaden].
