Until well into the civil war Martin Giesen taught in the Department of Architecture of the American University of Beirut. He is also a painter and graphic artist. As such he depicted life in Lebanon and became famous for his scenes of destruction during the war. Giesen's Lebanon is a collection of his aquarelles, which impressively capture the surreal conditions of wartime Lebanon.
