Michael Clegg and Martin Guttmann have been collaborating since 1980. They have shown extensively in the U.S.A., Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Japan and other countries. Their work is in collections of the Whitney Museum for American Art, the Beauburg, the Stadtgallerie Stuttgart, Museo Cappo di Monte to name a few. They took part in the Documenta, the Whitney Biennial, the Venice Biennale and in other international exhibitions. They published 20 books and catalogues about their work. Since 1990 Clegg & Guttmann made a large number of works in the public domain.
