Publ: Only part 1 published Refr: G-M 5769; Norman 511 Copy: Contains hand coloured plates, each with an explanation leaf Note: Born at Brook in Norfolk, Cooper studied at Edinburgh and London before becoming surgeon to Guy's Hospital. Twice President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Cooper was the most famous surgeon of his time, and the author of a large number of important works on surgery and anatomy which went into many editions. The above work was planned in two volumes, the first on non-malignant diseases - the second on malignant diseases was never published. Part 1 includes one of the first descriptions of Fibrocystic disease of the breast which he called 'hydatid disease' Dplt: Duplicate copy.
