The bio-bibliography of Prof. Dr. Habil. Marko Semov (1939–2007), corresponding member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, was made on the occasion of his 65th anniversary and by the idea of the management of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass communication at Sofia University. The chronological frameworks of the real bibliographic array cover the period from 1961 to 1th of November 2004. There are registered 1223 bibliographic units, of which 690 are his author’s and 533 are devoted to him or are related with his research, teaching and public activity. The bibliometric recap reports the following data: 2 dissertation and 2 habilitation works, 57 books, 9 books, to which Marko Semov is compiler, editor or reviewer, 9 dissertation and habilitation works, to which he is scientific adviser or reviewer, 400 studies and articles, 15 self-published stories, 104 interviews, 94 materials for the television, the radio and the cinema, including the film work. The book is structured in six sections. In the first section is published the article of Prof. Dr. Habil. Doyno Doynov, chairman of “All-Bulgarian Committee Vasil Levski”, written especially for this edition and entitled “Words fly away, the written remains”. The second section includes “Introduction” to the bibliography of the compiler. It follows the chronological reference, entitled “Dates and events in the biography of corresponding member Prof. Dr. Habil. Marko Atanasov Semov”. The third section reflects his personal bibliography, and in the fourth is situated the bibliography of the publications “about him”. In the fifth section are published the references “Marko Semov in the world libraries” and “Marko Semov in the virtual catalogues”. The sixth section of the edition represents a science auxiliary apparatus, where the proposed three indexes are Name index, Geographical index, Index of the print and electronic media). The real bibliographic database is systematized in two parts: “Bibliography of the work of corresponding member Prof. Dr. Habil. Marko Semov ” and “Publications about corresponding member Prof. Dr. Habil. Marko Atanasov Semov ”. In the first part are separated the following structural fields: Dissertations for obtaining of the scientific degrees “Doctor of Philosophy” (1973) and “Doctor of the Philological Sciences” (1983); Books, including scientific monographs, popular science editions and textbooks, novels, travel notes and collections with short stories (1970–2004); Compiler, editor and book reviewer (1981–2003); Scientific adviser and reviewer of dissertation and research works (1978–2000); Research studies and articles (1962–2004); Forewords to monographs, collections and encyclopedias (1986–2004); Book reviews (1963–2004); Popular science and journalist articles (1963–2004); Stories (1963–2004); Interviews in print media (1980–2004); Television, radio and films (1968–2004), where Marko Semov is presented as screenwriter of movies and TV shows, as editor and presenter of broadcasts and programs, as author of essays, storyteller and interlocutor in TV shows. The second part of the bibliographic corpus – publications about corresponding member Prof. Dr. Habil. Marko Semov, is a reflection of the scientific and of the media reception of his personality, of his research activity and of his sociopolitical manifestations. There are separated two sections – “Articles, essays, portraits, reviews and criticisms” about him (1967–2004) and “Reportages and communications” (1991–2004). In its finished form the edition “Marko Semov: bio-bibliography” can be perceived as a model of the scientific knowledge in the field of the psychology, as a main source and origin of each new study. By its nature it is scientific auxiliary and aims to support the research and educational activity in Bulgarian psychology and ethnology, in history and theory of the sociology, political science, literature, of the journalism, publicism, essays etc. The applied scientific specifics of such kind of editions allows to be encouraged their use and in the information and the monitoring activity of media, communication and library organizations. The publication complements the unified national database of personal bibliographies of the valuable academic society of Bulgaria and of the Bulgarian scientists at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” of world renown. The book represents a contribution to the field of academic personal bibliography. The methodological thesis, which is worked with, is for rationalization of the bibliography as a cumulative book of the condensed knowledge about a phenomenon or a person and as a mediator in the communications in the society of the knowledge. This thesis about the bibliography as media is theorized in two scientific articles of Milena Tsvetkova – „The seeking man: the reputation of the bibliographic culture“ (2005) and „Bibliography as a medium“ (2005). Through the bibliographic method is constructed systematized model of the author’s heritage of four Professors from the Sofia University – Assoc. Prof., PhD Ljuben Atanasov (2001), Prof., PhD Veselin Dimitrov (2004), Prof., Dr. Habil. Andrej Pantev (2004, second digital edition 2004) and Prof., Dr. Habil. Marko Semov (2004, second digital edition 2006). The four editions respect and improve the set up research model of the first personal bibliography created by Milena Tsvetkova – about Marko Vachkov, the Bulgarian banker and socially active person from the late XIX to the early XX century (1996). As a result of this approach today we dispose of full information databases for future historical, sociological, cultural, literary and book scientific research projects and for the obligatory for them bibliometric analysis.
